Pet as a Gift
I was invited to a birthday party for my cousin this week. After she sent out the birthday invitations, she called to tell me some of the things she wanted. One of the items on her list was a pet. I decided to get her a pet, but I was not sure which kind of animal would be ideal for her.
A fish might be a good pet to give her. Fish are pretty swimming in their tank. A fish is easy to take care of and inexpensive to feed. They need to be fed regularly, and their tank needs to be cleaned periodically. This low-maintenance pet may seem ideal, but they cannot be held and cuddled. Maybe she wants something warm and furry.
A kitten is warm and furry. Kittens are cute and playful, as well. Kittens can make a lot of messes and can ruin furniture and drapes with their claws. Many cat owners declaw their cats when they are kittens, so they will not ruin all of the fabric items in their house. When kittens grow up into cats, they are independent and easily cared for. They use a litter box to go to the bathroom, and they pretty much entertain themselves. This can be good if the owner does not want to go for long walks with their pet, but not so good if the owner wants to play and interact with their pet frequently.
A puppy or dog is perfect for people who want a warm cuddly pet with whom they can play with frequently. A dog needs to be walked and must go to the bathroom outside. This is great for outdoor people who won't mind walking their pet a few times a day. Dogs like to play and can be trained to fetch a ball and do other tricks. I bet my cousin would like a dog.
